Welcome to the Maj. General John C. Breckinridge Camp 1786, Sons of Confederate Veterans!
We are the Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp in Sumter County Florida. We currently meet in Oxford, FL at the Community Center, 3379 County Road 203, Oxford, FL 34484. We meet on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 6:30 PM
Our mission is to preserve the history and the legacy of the Confederate veteran and all that he stood for. This mission was outlined in 1906 by Lt. General Stephen Dell Lee at a reunion of the United Confederate Veterans, a group of our ancestors who fought for the cause of independent government. This is known as our "Charge," and something we a s a Camp take very seriously.
"To you, Sons of Confederate Veterans, we will commit the vindication of the cause for which we fought. To your strength will be given the defense of the Confederate soldier's good name, the guardianship of his history, the emulation of his virtues, the perpetuation of these principles which he loved and which you love also, and those ideals which made him glorious and which you also cherish."
Lt. General Stephen Dill Lee, Commander General United Confederate Veterans New Orleans, Louisiana, April 25, 1906

Whether you are a direct descendant (great, great, great grandson, etc.), a collateral descendant (distant cousin, nephew, etc.) or neither and want to help us in our mission, we welcome you.
